Burhill Golf Club welcomes stars of the future in PGA Europro Tour

golfing’s future stars will descend on Burhill golfing Club at the end of July as the PGA Europro Tour makes its first visit to the Walton-on-Thames venue for the P&ora 2009 Open.

Up to 156 of Europe’s up-&-coming golfingers will take to Burhill’s outst&ing New Course from Thursday July 30 to Saturday, August 1, playing three rounds for a prize fund of £40,000, with the winner walking away £10,000 richer.

Burhill’s New Course was opened in 2001, built on the site of the former South Course which was requisitioned by the Ministry of Aircraft in 1940, for it’s World War II efforts.

Mark Calcavecchia sets birdie record at Canadian Open

200px-mark_calcavecchia_2008Former Open champion Mark Calcavecchia managed to set a new PGA tour record of nine consecutive birdies in the third round of the Canadian Open in Oakville over the weekend.

Calcavecchia’s record breaking effort was not enough to give the player the lead in the Canadian Open & he settled at that point into joint 17th at eight under & five off the lead.
